A sneak peak of who I am
Hi, I’m Tejas. I’m a friendly, laid-back kind of guy who loves his dad the most. I am a rockstar to my mom, a stern (but not overbearing) and protective brother to my sweet little sis and the perfect partner to a lovely girl!
I have always been extremely lucky when it comes to making friends. Don’t have many but they’ve always been there for me, my personal entourage of pea-brained baboons (lol… I kid!). I can be myself around them –talk shit, do shit, engage in inelegant shenanigans– without having to worry about them thinking any less of me because they’re my best chums.
I’m a nineties kid and I don’t suppose I should be putting this stuff out there but… I was a bed wetter well until the age of 12! Don’t judge me! Ha-ha-ha.
I still love playing car racing games. I also am a fan of Sufi music and can manage to cook up a passable meal.
I ran away from home at the age of 9 because life was disappointing and boring. Thankfully, my superhero dad went looking for me and within 6 hours, found me sauntering through a farm about 5 kilometres from home! This got me some really nice goodies from my parents and their friends who went berserk searching for me.
After school ended, I enrolled in college to learn computer science and it was there I met my girl, the apple of my eye! We were both smitten by each other and… you know how it goes 😉 She came from a well-to-do family and yet was the most humble and grounded person I ever met. She was –and still is– nothing like other girls in all aspects. She’s beautiful, tall and smart and has a warm and refined personality. In her words, she found me stupid and over smart, so it was a match made in heaven 😛
During the course of my college life, we became friends and like most friends, had a healthy sweet and sour relationship. Six months in, our relationship flourished into something more mature, and we were a couple. We had a teary conversation the night we realized we were getting serious because neither of us believed in all that relationship bullshit. But there was no going back. Neither of us proposed, but we silently surrendered into each other’s charm, and it’s been 13 years since debut! Thank God!
I finished college with very little programming knowledge than most but a deep interest in web technologies and the search industry. And that’s when I started my career in the search engine optimization (SEO) & Digital Marketing Industry. By the way, I have a few key people to be grateful for:
- K.C. Joshi, one of my school teachers: I was a dumb student! I wish to thank him for always inspiring me to study well and for inculcating the habit of logical thinking in me.
- Krunal Chauhan, my first boss: The only person in the industry whom I genuinely address ‘Sir’ & have to thank for shooting Digital Marketing into my nerves. He built a strong foundation for my Internet Marketing knowledge, showed me the ropes and encouraged me to think analytically.
- Amit Patel: The one who took me to Dubai on an Entrepreneurial journey at an early age of 22. I want to thank this guy for his friendship. He took me in and taught me how to think ahead of my age, how to setup and run an organisation, helped me develop business maturity at a tender age. I wish to thank him for his sagely advice, for ignoring my stupid talks time & again and replacing it with teachings of diplomacy, smartness and patience instead.
My Body of Work – I am a digital marketing insect; I’ve 11+ years’ experience in various subject areas of digital marketing viz. Performance marketing (digital ads), data & analytics, social & influencer marketing, search engine optimization, digital team management, process management & KPIs management.
I’ve worked in 4 different countries, mainly in digital agencies and an ecommerce brand. I’ve managed multi-million-dollar marketing spends with bottom funnel KPIs & built teams of digital experts. In my recent role I was working as regional head of growth marketing at Zalora – it’s the largest fashion ecommerce store in Southeast-Asia. I was mainly responsible for new customer acquisition, retention and reactivation through various digital channels viz. Performance marketing, affiliates, influencer marketing & SEO.
Though I’ve been part of senior marketing management since the last few years but believe me, I still feel like a blue-collar worker! I recently started blogging to share my thoughts on various areas of Digital Media and Marketing on my other blog – https://groth.marketing
Besides the work side of things, I have a great interest on Mysticism & Spiritualism. Surprising to many people, I am a disciple of Bhagvad Gita and a great fan of Osho Rajneesh and Krishna and their teachings. I also co-run a wellness blog – https://kanshes.org
World is small and life is short, better we connect socially to be there for each other. Here’s my Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
